Frame your Tiny Home

Proper framing is the number one biggest step to your tiny home build. A good frame equals a good tiny house. Your frame will be bolted down to the metal trailer, make sure your trailer has enough metal around the outsides of it to support your frame.

Wood vs Aluminum Weight Difference

Though it is on average $7/piece for aluminum 2×4 pieces, it weighs only 2.7 pounds for a 2x4x8 piece vs a normal wood 2×4 piece weighs around 10 pounds for a 2x4x8 piece. That means that the aluminum 2x4x8 piece weighs 1/4 of the weight as a normal 2×4 piece. That means that if you need 100 2×4 pieces for your tiny home that alone will weigh the trailer down 1000 pounds or more vs aluminum which will only weigh the trailer down around 300 pounds. That will make a HUGE HUGE HUGE difference when you are trying to pull this thing. If you want the tiny house to be more mobile and easy to move around use aluminum for the frame.

Perks to aluminum framing(we recommend this way), is that it’s fire proof, insect proof, mold proof, and more resistant to all types of weather.
